Advertise With Us

Texcovery reaches people who build, buy and think hard about technology: founders and early employees, engineers and product people, IT and security leads, investors, policy staff and curious readers who want more than a headline. Most of our audience is in Canada, with a strong second readership in the United States. If your product or event is genuinely useful to that crowd, we would like to talk.

We are an independent publication, and advertising pays for a large share of our reporting. We also have firm rules about how advertising works on our site. They protect our readers’ trust, and that trust is what makes an ad on Texcovery worth something to you.

Who reads Texcovery

Our readers come to us for coverage of startups, AI, cybersecurity, hardware, green tech and fintech, with a Canadian angle that is hard to find elsewhere. They tend to read long pieces to the end, subscribe to the newsletter and share articles inside their companies. Our current audience figures, including monthly readers, newsletter subscribers, open rates and the split between Canadian provinces and other countries, are in our media kit, which we update every quarter. We share real numbers from our analytics and newsletter platforms rather than estimates. Email [email protected] to request the latest version.

Ways to work with us

Newsletter sponsorship

Our newsletter goes out to readers who have explicitly opted in, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. A sponsorship gives you a clearly labelled slot in one issue: a short headline, about 60 to 90 words of copy, a link and, if you like, a logo. We will help edit your copy so it reads naturally to our audience, but the message is yours. One sponsor per issue, so you are not competing for attention.

Display advertising

Standard IAB display units run across the site, on article pages and section fronts. Direct campaigns can be targeted by section, for example only on cybersecurity or green tech coverage. We do not run pop-ups, auto-playing video with sound, or ads that cover the content.

Sponsored articles

We publish a limited number of sponsored articles each month. These are labelled “Sponsored” at the top, name you as the sponsor, and are written by you or by our commercial team with your input, never by our news staff. They stay on the site permanently unless agreed otherwise, and links are marked rel="sponsored". Good sponsored content teaches readers something: a technical deep dive, a practical guide, original research or a case study. We will push back on copy that reads like a press release, because it performs badly and our readers notice.

Event and job listings

We run a short events and opportunities section in the newsletter. It is a good fit for conferences, meetups, accelerator applications, hackathons and hiring announcements in the Canadian tech ecosystem. Non-profit and community events may qualify for a reduced rate.

Custom packages

For product launches, conferences or recruiting drives, we can combine a newsletter sponsorship, a sponsored article and a display campaign over several weeks. Ask us for a proposal.

Indicative rates

Placement What you get Starting from (CAD, before tax)
Newsletter sponsorship One primary slot in one issue, with performance report $650 per issue
Newsletter classified Short text listing in the events and opportunities section $150 per issue

Sponsored article One labelled article, promoted once in the newsletter and on our social channels $1,800

Rates are subject to availability and change from time to time; the media kit has the current rate card. Canadian advertisers will be charged GST/HST as applicable. We offer discounts for multi-issue bookings and for registered charities and non-profits.

Our advertising rules

These are not negotiable, and we would rather explain them up front than turn down a campaign at the last minute.

  • Advertising never buys coverage. Our newsroom does not know who is advertising, and buying ads will not get you a story, a review or a softer one. Our editors and reporters are not involved in ad sales. Details are in our editorial policy.
  • Everything paid is labelled. Sponsored articles and newsletter slots carry a clear “Sponsored” label and your name. We do not disguise paid content as journalism.
  • No paid links in editorial content. We do not sell links, mentions or placements inside news articles, reviews or guides. Requests for “guest posts” with dofollow links are declined.
  • No preview or approval. Advertisers do not see editorial content before publication and cannot ask for changes to it.
  • We can say no. We decline ads that are misleading, that promote products we believe could harm readers, or that conflict with our standards.

What we don’t accept

  • Gambling, online casinos and sports betting
  • Crypto token sales, “get rich” trading schemes, high-yield investment promises and unregistered securities offerings
  • Payday loans and high-interest lending
  • Political and issue advocacy advertising
  • Surveillance tools marketed for covert monitoring of partners, employees or children
  • Weight-loss, miracle health and unproven medical claims
  • Adult content, tobacco and vaping products
  • Ads that imitate our editorial design, use fake system warnings or employ deceptive “clickbait” headlines

Financial services, cybersecurity products and AI tools are welcome, provided the claims are accurate and, where required, the advertiser is properly registered or licensed.

Privacy and ad tech

Readers choose whether advertising cookies are allowed through our cookie consent banner, and many decline. Direct campaigns therefore rely on context (the section and topic) rather than behavioural tracking. We do not share our readers’ personal information or our newsletter list with advertisers. Aggregate performance data, such as impressions, clicks and newsletter click-through rates, is shared in your campaign report. See our privacy policy and cookie policy for more.

How booking works

  1. Email [email protected] with your company, what you want to promote, your preferred dates and your budget.
  2. We reply within two business days with availability, the media kit and a proposal.
  3. Once you confirm, we send an insertion order. Creative is due five business days before the run date for display and newsletter placements, and ten business days before for sponsored articles.
  4. After your campaign, we send a performance report with the numbers from our ad server or newsletter platform.

Payment terms are net 30 for established businesses. First-time advertisers and individuals may be asked to pay in advance.
